Thank you Lubba, very nice from you, and kind. Time is the key issue, although I realise time is about priorities, and mine changed a while ago. It's never only one reason, like little spare time. Things just change. I love this site and as a collector I can't live without it either. But I guess it already works pretty well for what we need and I can focus on other things that are maybe more rewarding personally these days. Good times will come back with loads of updates, I'm sure. Thanks again and welcome to the Forum :)

It's truly an amazing site Webmaster. One I simply couldn't live without. Keep up the brilliant work. If you need donations for server hardware or upgrades just let us collectors know. We'll be happy to pitch in. But I guess, as you say, that time is the key issue. We'll never really get more of that do we? Thanks from Sweden

Webby - as far as most are concerned the site is perfect, of course there are the odd thing but for crying out load its a fan site trying to help collectors the best you can with limited time - the amount of work you and a few others have put into this site makes it the best site on the web for collectors - for any band let alone the Cure - keep up the good work looking forward to seeing the next update next year :) - see you soon :)

Any ideas welcome. The challenge here (and in most things) is to keep complexity simple. About spare time, it's no surprise I don't have much. Actually I'm not a technician, I need to get it done by someone else. But anyway, when I do in the future, I have in mind remaking the site into one much lighter, with modern code and responsive.

Would it be possible - (in time as well) - to have an item then to have a tick list within that item to add - sticker/poster/sheet/folder etc - each tick also has a star next to it so the stars would also be the same - to be honest I am happy with the way the site is now but it was just a thought in case Webmaster had a spare 5 mins :)

I understand the term "Incomplete" sounds unaccurate for some cases. Maybe it could be renamed as "Incomplete/Regular" and Complete renamed as "Expanded/Complete". That naming would work better for most of us I suppose. "Incomplete/Regular" would stand either for a Japanese CD without obi (incomplete) and for In-between days 7" Japan promo without folder (regular).

Yes, that is a good point. It's probably more of an issue here because it's a top rarity, and if it were a relatively uninteresting item it wouldn't be generating this discussion. That is mostly due to the star counting issue, I suppose. And yes, it's not clear how you would decide which items to list separately and which would make more trouble than they are worth. But again, if this is our biggest issue with the site, I'd say things are going pretty well :)

Three imaginary boys 12" UK. Most were issued without sticker. Some say they got a postcard but no badge, others badge but no postcard. Others postcard but different postcard and sticker but no badge. It's endless. Hundreds of items like this. I'm surprised that you'd probably keep a copy of In-between days without folder when it's the very same thing, but you know, I understand everyone lives collecting differently. I definitely wouldn't keep it, because it's the very same record, not a different version. If I come to your house and swap the records, replacing the one without folder into the folder, you will never notice. It's absurd. Like it'd be absurd to find one day just the folder and consider it incomplete, because the record you had was found separately. No doubt you'd put them together with a huge smile on your face. Or maybe you think that way because it's a top rarity, but if you think of a more average record, like a V.A. CD with and without sticker. Would you like it listed twice? I hope not, because the site would be not a guide anymore, but something like MusicStack or Discogs, totally un-manageable. Then the idea of just selected items? OK, which ones and according to what criteria? // I agree with the stars argument though. We shouldn't take this site as the truth about The Cure records, just as a reference. Stars do that job pretty well, and mostly thanks to all of you.

I would probably also keep the copy without folder, as it was issued both ways. And I would advocate for having both versions listed. I do see webmaster's point about items with multiple extras (sticker, flyer, button, etc). In the end, I don't think this issue is a huge concern. The site works well for what I need it for, in almost all ways. The stars counting thing isn't accurate, yeah. But we also all have different opinions on whether some items are rated as too many stars or too few, so even if the star counting took the folder/no folder into account, it might not be "accurate" in our own minds as far as correctly showing rarity for all items. Hope that makes some sense. In the end, although we have spent a lot of time contributing, this is webmaster's site to design as works best for him. Compared to the awful struggle of trying to use Discogs for Cure items, this site is excellent in my opinion. That site is clearly not set up for people who want to own twenty different versions of the same CD!

@sukiac: If you'd keep the copy without folder, then I agree this site is not designed according to your requirements as a collector.

@easyme: I agree the stars counting is a bug, and that bug could be fixed one day. However, I don't think it's a big deal.

Hi Webmaster... problem is also when you list your item as incomplete you have even though the complete numbers of stars associated to a complete copy... another different problem is when an item win or lose a star it remains in same stars area as before and it goes with all items in those case but i know webmaster it must be a real difficult problem to resolve :( we are with you Webmaster :) have a nice day . Bonjour Webmaster ... I note that your reasoning is not unique for all collectors and some of them do not share your point of view and would you listen to their opinions ... There is another reasoning among many REAL collectors: THEY RETAIN ALL !!! Here is my reasoning: 1) I do not think one day find the folder because there are very few copies ... and almost all had been distributed without this ... 2) If I find that folder I keep the two pièces ... because they really existed in these conditions ... one with the file and the other without the file (and I dont forget to check thematrix#!!!) ... Important to me is to trace the real life of the disc ... one distributed with the official marketing ... The other (the same) with a different official marketing ... another (always the same) without an official marketing ... If this is their "life" so I keep the three ... as I do for matrix# ... That is to collect !!! It is not correct to say that misses the file while it was never distributed with this disc ... ditto for the additions, the stickers and all different brands of marketing ... If a disc is sold in his life with 3 different stickers ... must collect three ... and do not impose the first as the one and only ... The extras are a real plus and pleasure for any collector ... but must stay as extras and not supplant the object of our collection ... The Disk Itself !!! To conclude as you do in your reply ... why not add to the disc mainly distributed without folder and without added ... WITH FOLDER !!! WITH STICKER !!! WITH SHEET !!! WITH ......... !!! Dear Webmaster with all my respect.

Let's suppose we list the copy without folder as a different item and one day you find the copy with folder. What will you do with your old copy without folder? Sell it, probably (become a totally useless copy). But then, guess what. Once sold, you'll have to remove it from your "My collection" list here, and therefore the item will show up like you don't have it, when you really do (!!!). Then, to fix that, you might decide to add it back to your "My collection" list, but then the number of items in your list will be wrong (!!!). But that's not the worst part. You'll find hundreds of cases like this, and many of them not with folders, but with more than one extra, finding items that, for consistency with this criteria, should be listed 5 to 10 times depending on the combination of extras. That would ruin the collecting experience on the site. The current system gives you a simple solution: add the item as incomplete and save the comments "No folder".

That is correct ... and I want to add that this reasoning is valid for the german 7" and 12" ... Regards.

I also agree - same with all the German vinyl singles - those are all only with product-fact sheet. But only few copies came with those sheets.

i think most copies of the promo 7" are without folder then, and as for the promo 100 years coming without folder or inlay, it would be very cool to add 2 news differents items... then it would also easier to rate them correctly and fairly... thanks webmaster :) regards
