Coming back to your point wishful, you're right, the Lament is a rare item, but nowhere near as rare as an acetate like Jumping...i was discussing this recently with our Webmaster, and i feel there must be more than 10 or so copies around..Also interesting is the mark up on those items...roughly x4,i think they could have fetched more by selling on Ebay in auction form rather than in Buy now form...though i am happy if they went to real Cure collectors( i don't happen to know who bought the other 2 items but hope they have found a good home) :)

Well, i was reading another article about the auction in this month's issue of The Word(UK Monthly), and basically most people who were bidding were record dealers looking for that special/unique prog rock record from the 70's or something...you know the one by that obscure band etc..it doesn't look like there were any specific fans of any specific artists there, hence the low prices.Overall the auction's results were pretty poor.On another subject.. In Record Collector 2 months ago, a question was asked regarding the value and rarity of 3IB UK Ltd/Special price, to which i replied that it's not really that rare, and that anyone who would want to know more about Cure records should go to www.thecurerecords.com.They printed my response in this month's RC,so hopefully this will be read by many collectors, and we might get more people coming on to the site...(in any case, just a bit of free advertising for your site :))

Me neither. Maybe a reason is the Lament 7" is on Daren Butler's book. That makes it specially desireable and a must for any collector. This said, no doubt the Jumping is far more unique.

These prices are for nothing :/. I can't however understand why Lament sold for more than the Jumping acetate. The Lament hard vinyl has been on eBay at least 4 times in the last 5 years.

I just bought February's issue of Record Collector, and they have an extensive aricle regarding the sale of Mike Read vinyls....They also have Top 20 list of individual items for highest price paid. The 3 Cure items we are interested in sold as follow 10/The Cure A Forest(acetate)£350 11/The Cure Lament(acetate)(they mean hard vinyl)£340 18/The Cure Jumping Someone Else's Train(acetate)£200 They say have no regrets, but i wish i had attended this sale.....:(

Damn, that was auctionned 2 weeks ago in London and i nearly went...but when i looked at the auction list(some 10.000 records apparently), there was no mention of those being acetates..it just mentionned 7" singles si i did not bother...Congratulations!

A few scans were sent yesterday evening, It was from ex Radio 1 DJ Mike Reads private collection so provenance is good. Apparently a copy of A Forest Strawberry Acetate was sold at the same time.

Great finds! It's nice to see that you can find these gems nowadays, outside of Ebay and such sites..I can only imagine it was from a private buyer and that's good news...looking forward to scans.
