Longbox question

I was comparing this page to the Boys Don't Cry USA CD page, and wondered how CDs that originally came in longboxes are treated. The BDC CD says 'from the USA longbox' where as this one does not. Would it make sense to show the original pressing (with original matrix number) only on the longbox page, and the later matrix number as an item by itself (CD only)? If the version of BDC shown was 'from the USA longbox' does it not make that an incomplete item, duplicate of the BDC longbox page? Just curious. Thanks, Zack

Hi siamese. Do as you feel more comfortable with. As a collector, what do I do? Again if my copy is sealed, I add the box, not the CDs. If it's not sealed (so I can play with the CDs separatedly) then I add the CDs too, and I edit the description form of each CD with something like "It's the copy boxed in item 1231". Of course if I have an additional copy of any of those single CDs, then the field stays blank: I simply add it to my collection. // Speaking as a collector, many of these boxes are worth something only when they are found sealed. The "Swing set" would be the extreme example of this:

The "3x1" are a good example too. Some boxes are so rare that I would rush to buy them even if unsealed:

// The site helps to organise your collection, but you decide how you want to manage the tools. For instance, note most of us do not save items as incomplete. It's simply up to everyone. I would advice to do so though, or at least to edit the description form, so you can keep good track of the real condition of your copies.

Hi webmaster, thanks for the precision, we can add longbox AND cd. But what about the australian "3 for 1" issued in 2000 & european 2008 2CD boxes: should we add the box AND every single CD, or box OR each CD?individually?

This makes sense. It would be good to add images of the open CD to the long box page, or as you say maybe a link to the correct page is enough. I know I was at first confused as to which SOAB version would be in the long box, but I guess it would be the one listed as being the first pressing, with 'Made in W. Germany by PDO' on the disc.

Good point Zack, thanks. The CDs are something we certainly know they were was sold off the longboxes once longboxes were not printed anymore. Given the strong personality of longboxes -strong to the extent we've given them the status of a different format-, we think of them as different items, therefore we wouldn't add our CDs as incomplete. In a nut-shell, we think boxes as unique items, not extras. On the contrary, if you have the longbox and your copy is not sealed, surely we would add the longbox AND the CD in our collection (at least that's what I would do!). Buying another separate CD would be senseless. // Regarding the CD contained, I agree it may be interesting to add the information of the CD also on the longbox page, although it may be enough to reference the item on the site instead of duplicating the images.
