Sorry, I was talking about the acetate traffic. I will try to submit new records (all range of stars) but I have a scan problem with 12" format. Regards, Sal

Hi, I had a contact in Japan (If I can find his name out I will let you know) many years ago, well before Ebay in the good old days of hunting and hard work finding stuff ! He was selling at the time Jap acetates (They looked nothing like the one here which I also feel is 100% real) I asked him what he had and his answer was which do you want I can make any ! After a few more letters back and fro it came to light he had a contact that was producing Jap acetates for the collectors market and made them to order (he also sent me some pics which if I can dig out I will send to webby so he can pass them on to you)I don't know how many of each he was producing but I don't think he would have made just one, I do see them turn up on ebay every now and then (never seen a cure one, I never got any off him) if I see one that looks like the ones I think he was producing I will post the link on here, I have had many dealings with Toyko records in the past and never doubted any of their items (and they have had some very nice ones in the past too !) anyway thats all I have - does anyone have a copy of the white vinyl test pressing that was produced for the Catch clear vinyl 7" I know Esprit had one in many many years ago but it was 225 and at the time I was skint, when I got back to them it was gone ! Happy hunting from the UK ;)

i have a white label copy of lockjaw - journalist jive which the seller advertised as japan origin. it has a nice gloss paper (like they use on their inserts) fold open sleeve which looks to be reproduced from the original UK sleeve (no glued seams). there is a symbol or 2 in the dead wax. i originally thought it may be legitimate, but i really don't know - would be nice if it was. happy to send scans, just let me know webmaster.

Hi John, thanks for this information. I never heard or notice many copies of Cure Japanese acetate or over favorite fake dealers bands like U2 or Depeche Mode. My 2 Jap acetates are the only one I know. I will be happy to see other Japanese Cure acetate even fake. Do you have seen some and which one ? My 2 acetates were found in the Japanese soil by Ben from TokyoMusic. So you are free to ask him more details. But, I honestly doubt that Japanese people could produce fake records...I just can't imagine a Japanese doing "wrong" things. But you right it is important to make sure where they come from. It is clear that Ebay show to many people that many collectors (only for some bands) could pay a lot of money for some records. So, fake acetate or easier promo CDR were produced. Obviously the origin is important and the label could sometimes help to distinguish that. I learn a lot watching acetate labels from mastering studios from bands which are sold for few euro. In this case acetate from no collectible bands are rarely fake and no interesting for counterfeiter. I learn that the famous "Girl" which wrote the label of Jumping Utopia acetate leaves Utopia for Town House mastering in the 80??s as some Town house acetate labels have this so particular style notably with the dots on the letter ??I? as mentioned by Vandeebgroup and JC recently. Well I have some history about some records and I will try to share with you. Hope that it will be interesting. If not please Webmaster tell me. Thanks.

This is a nice item indeed, but a word of warning that a lot of fake Jap acetates are also on the market so please make sure you know where they come from if you do get offered them

Thanks Zakiaaa and RodX for your rating and feelings (don't know who was the others collectors to rate it, (it was so fast !!!). Yes it is a nice record because Japanese acetate are very rare according to the Japanese dealers. But here it is only a promo acetate probably cut by the radio station or a company which cut at request for radio. As you can notice there is some aceates with different artist on each side. With digital /MP3 format many radio stations clean their archive which was the case few years ago for this Japanese radio station. Honestly I paid it lower than the actual rated price. I like it because of the Caterpillar song and Japanese country, but I like much my UK acetate notably the Bird Mad Girl. So, I think that this Japanese acetate will be on my selling list. Thanks.
