For some personal reason, this is a record very close to my heart, so i am very happy to see it appear on the site..I know you work really hard at it Mr Webmaster, but there are a lot of items with "Pictures soon available" which deserve to be seen, even if, like this one they are fairly common...Brings me back to early collecting days and the excitement of finding a newly released promo record..

Sometimes life is fun. I think it was me who bought the 7" A Foret :)

from the early to the late 80s i travelled nearly every summer from austria to england and spent most of my money on records. i even had to buy a new bag to carry them back home. every time i came to the customs my knees got a bit week because autria was not in the ec at that time. poor me. i really thought they were looking for vinyl smugglers;-)

I saw the Strawberry 7" Forest acetate in Camden in 1990 in a Goth music shop called Resurrection Records (at least it's the current name). I will never forget it because it was the first handwritten label I ever saw (how strange that was!), and because I never saw such an expensive thing. It was 100 pounds, which meant NOT FOR SALE to me. I pointed my finger at the wall. "What is that and why is it so expensive?". "An acetate", they said. First time I heard that word. Whatever they explained next, I thought that record wasn't for me. Ha!

Plastic Passion ! I used to travel from France to London ONLY to buy some records... and this shop was one of my favorite ! (and another one in Camdem Town, just under the train bridge - I forget the name).

Same story here..even though i had bought all lp's up to THOTD in France, i really started collecting in London...and the shop i started buying rarities from was called...Plastic Passion on Portobello Road... a sure sign!:)

I agree with you guys. I remember i was on my first record-fair 1988-89. I was 15 years old and i bought my first rare cure-records. I found killing an arab, boys dont cry and jumping, and i remember that all my money disappeared that day;)

wow tsao! i was a very frequent visitor at phantom records at that same time - we may have jostled over the 'C' section without even knowing it at some stage! great shop indeed down the dodgy end of pitt street. the guy who ran it still trades as 'budus' on ebay and always did have the best aussie rarities. don't know what it is like now in your part of the world, but 2nd hand record shops are dying out fast in sydney - the rent rises and the internet has killed them all off. oh well, what we lost in magic we have more than made up for with information right here anyway!

I agree. The Internet and Ebay brought thousands of new records and chances to get them, but also killed most of the magic. The price of abundance! Summer 1991 in Sydney, I remember spotting the aussie 3-track 7" of Boys don't cry signed by RS, Simon, Lol and Hartley, in a shop called Phantom Records. It costed AU$75 which was almost my budget for that summer. Collecting has given me nothing like that ever again.

It was so hard collecting anything back then for me, living in the middle of the USA... of course I was only 13 in 1987, so I didn't have money for anything really rare anyway. But the occasional import that would come into a record shop in town was really a memorable event. I remember that I got the French Mixed Up box set for Christmas one year, and it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen! It's still one of my favorite items for that reason. Ebay is great, but it sure took the 'magic' out of collecting to some extent.

That was one of the first "big" collector item I bought in 1987... I was 16 years old... and 25 euros (the price I paid at the time for this...) was so much money for me ! So I am also very happy to see this record now on the website. Thanks a lot :-)

I know what you mean. At last we're finding the way and time to make these must-have records appear. Little by little though, no special rush because when they all appear... that will be it.

Me ...never :-) I have posted photos on my facebook site (for those of you who are friends). I do not have a big scanner so very difficult to send a scan as it is bigger than a 12" record. Webmaster - I can send the photos if you want to see if you can use them?

I received a copy today. A lovely item. It is a bound folder with 12 pages - including a colour press photo and a postcard - mounted inside. The front is black with the KMKMKM written in red and the back page is the back of the album sleeve. As John77 states, the inside back has a slot for the promo 12" (which comes with the item I have). The other pages outline the group's biography and details of promotion for the album (TV, Posters etc). It is all in German. It is not like a normal press pack in that all the pages are bound and glossy and the photo and postcard are mounted on the pages inside. I will send photos/ scans when I get a chance.

TWO DIFFERENT PRESSINGS
By

Bonjour ... I have two different pressings of this 12" ... Design of the slv and labels no different ... The first one that I bought in the UK is identical to this one ... Brilliant sleeve (38grs) ... Matrix#: "KSME1 A // 1 420 H 1 1 1 TOWNHOUSE SAMPLER A" ... "KSME1 B // 1 420 H 1 1 1 SAMPLER" ... The second is very different ... cardboard cover is thick (75grs) ... white paper labels (not yellowish) ... vinyl is thicker (128grs instead of 108grs), less flexible ... the pressing of the vinyl is different ... the etching completely different on the two faces (large run off groove) ... Matrix#: "KSME 1 A (MPO barred)" ... "KSME 1 B (MPO barred)" ... [See 'MPO'
http://www.discogs.com/label/
] ... Please can you check in your collection that you have ... any additional information is welcome ... Merci!

Bonjour ... Thank you for the answer ... that's what I think too (buy in Paris) ... I also hope other complementary answers ... Yes the first one is described in 'thecurerecords' as the promo UK and the one accompanying the German promo folder. Regards.

Your link goes to a do not use page. The MPO label says it is a French pressing plant. A Forest 1990 was pressed by them. The copy that came with this
http://www.thecurerecords.com/...
is the first one you list with the Townhouse Sampler A etching. Maybe the French market had their own pressing?
