Webmaster, does that mean this could be a dutch issue, not a french one?(ie S.T.E.M.R.A, not SACEM).Thanks!

Hi, the publishing society printed on the label is where the product was manufactured not always where it was sold. You are right about the early records, however, after around 1990 lot sEuropean editions of CDs and vinyl were pressed in Germany and Holland in the 90s as it was cheaper. The best way to tell where the record was sold is to look at the label and catalogue number.

After some little research, we believe that the French author and editor society -SACEM-, stopped controlling The Cure only releases in 1989 after the single "Pictures of you". From "Lovesong" to date, author authenticity in main continental Europe began to be controlled by the former Dutch author and editor society -STEMRA-, most likely due to licence matters. That can be seen with all CDs pressed in Germany and France from 1989 onwards. So we should consider this record to be a French pressing, since it was only distributed in France. So, it's quite easy to identify origin of old singles and records by looking to the author and editor control society. Thus, SACEM would stand for France, GEMA for Germany, SIAE for Italy, SGAE for Spain, STEMRA for Holland, SOKOJ for former Yugoslavia, SABA for Belgium, OSA for former Czechoslovaquian Republic, ARTISJUS for Hungary, SPA for Portugal, ZAIKS for Poland, etc.
