Also as per Discogs, there appears to be an issue of The Head On The Door with matrix "827 231-2 01 #", no SPARS on disc, AAD listed on tray card. This must be the first issue? http://www.discogs.com/viewima...

    I have a copy with matrix "827 231-2 01 #" but with SPARS on disc and without cat. number on front of the booklet.

    Interesting info. How in the heck am I ever going to find these? They seem to no longer exist anywhere. On eBay I've seen first Elektra (PDO W. German & USA) for Head On The Door, that's about it. I did find a Japanese Whispers w/ 02 * ..but it says Made In W. Germany By PDO on the ring, I thought it was the first issue, couldn't find an earlier one on this site. The disc is on its way, supposedly mint.
