By Disc Union, not Universal

This is what Ben from TokyoMusicJapan.com wrote about this: --- "The box is not a Universal item, it is nothing to do with the record company (so of course never included with the promo issue CDs). There is a chain of record stores here in Tokyo called Disc Union - to make people buy card sleeve CDs at their stores (instead of other stores like Tower, HMV etc) these stores make extra 'freebie' items that they give to customers when they buy the CDs at their store. The box is a free item, made by Disc Union, and given to people that buy the full set of CDs from their store. It is not a promo item. // Disc Union receives permission from the record company to use the album artwork etc, so they are not unofficial - but also they are not 'official' because they are not from the record company. // The Disc Union box is issued by Disc Union, exclusively for their stores/customers. It's not from Universal.". --- Thanks Ben

I live in Japan and have only ever seen one come up for auction. I missed buying it.

Well, I donā??t know what went wrong with the last post. But it is screwed up. There are some sellers that offer alternatives to the gift boxes Disk Union issues. I have a few as they were cheaper than official or authorized boxes and some series like The Smiths did not release a box with the set. I found a nice box that holds them. I know it is fake, but it keeps my collection nice and tidy. Itā??s

Regardless if itā??s a Promo Box or a Authorized Box given away with the purchase of the complete titles, as this piticular set was sold with the box. itā??s extremely rare and it only comes up for auction by trusted Japanese Sellers rarely! It was indeed a gift like many other sets came with distributed by Disk Union only! There are fake ones, but you should know who you are dealing with before forking over the money or you will end up with a Fake Box! Unfortunately the market for these items has become flooded with fake disc as well as fake promotional boxes. Always buy from a reputable Japanese seller! As I mentioned a few years ago, I paid a large amount of money for one and it took me nearly five years to find an authentic box. Now Iā??m looking for a Disk Union issued Brian Eno Box! Itā??s extremely hard to find and rare that one comes up for auction. I purchased a Disk Union promotional box this evening that Iā??ve been chasing for a long time for ā??The Specialsā? that came with three titles and itā??s an extremely hard promotional box to find. I had a proxy shopper who use to find items for me, who lived in Japan that I went to College with. He has moved back to the States. But as Iā??ve said in the last two post, Ben at Tokyomusic.com lives in Japan and has for many years. Heā??s very knowledgeable about promo items and authorized items. Itā??s much nicer to have these in a box that was authorized to be made by Disk Union to promote the sale of the entire collection of these little gems! Some of my boxes have ā?? Not for Resaleā? on the bottom. But I do have a couple of true promo box sets with promo issued CDs that have not for sale around the center and promo OBIs as well. This box is something that you canā??t just call some one in Japan and expect them to have the item in stock! Itā??s not a cheap ā??bootlegā? as other post claim just because itā??s extremely hard to find one. Reputable dealers are not going to sell you a fake item. tsao has absolutely given the correct answer in the 11:00am post!

If you look it up on minilps.net, you will see that it is official and it is a DisK Union Box. These boxes and many others are hard to find. Some are more common than others, but I've been looking for a few for years now. I have close to 75 box sets and of those I know and knew before buying them that they where not official. Not all of the series release a promo box with their set of releases. I don't really mind if the box is not official if there wasn't a box released by either the company or by Disk Union , but it makes organizing my collection of mini lp cds much more complete looking and it protects them as well.

Ben from TokyoMusicJapan.com is absolutely correct about everything that he has contributed to this posting. I have bought several albums from Japan with their OBIs intact and he knows what he's talking about. I purchased these Cure CDs separately from different places and that was not easy at all. DisK Union does indeed give out incentives like boxes and other stuff for purchasing entire sets of a full release and when they are gone, they are hard as hell to find. Sometimes Disk Union will offer box sets for sale. It took me almost four years to find this box from a reputable source that I have purchased many items from in the past. The box pictured and the one I was fortunate enough to obtain are real boxes. I paid $150.00 USD just for the box. I have a personal shopper that will contact me when he finds boxes or rare mini lp CDs I have requested. There was a complete set of these on Amazon US for awhile for like $650.00 USD. There are fake boxes out there and they usually come from China, Taiwan, Poland, the Russian Federation, and even Canada. Look on a web page called minilps.net they have this box and all the CDs listed there and the site is helpful in guiding you to sellers that may have certian items in stock, usually reputable dealers on eBay. There are some promo boxes I'm still looking for and a few titles that are hard to find for certain sets.

Ben's info doesn't seem to an opinion. He is a record dealer set in Tokyo and is telling us what this is. To my understanding, he's been very clear. The box isn't for sale anywhere, but an in-store 'freebie' given to customers who bought the full set of cardsleeves.

I think its not authentic.Have ask on a Japan Disc Music Sale Website but there is no Box for sale.Other Online-shops like amazon.com or others, nobody have the Box with it.Only some Sellers from Japan on ebay. You can ask but nobody have the Boy for sale,so I think cheap Bootleg Box as some black Woodenboxes from USA Pictures of you! Nothing writing on it,for me unauthorised Fakesbox!

Well it's not a promo box, as Ben explained. Also not official, but authorized.

Many thanks Webmaster ! We now know the origin of this "promo box". Not official and not unofficial... Hmmm... The record company had given its consent I prefer to regard it as something official... :) Thank you webmaster for all the work you do on www.thecurerecords.com ! :D Regards/ Rod x
