Promo or not ?

I think this VHS is a promo (or not for sale) item, as there is no barcode. These VHS were "monthly" (as it's written on label) sent to records stores to promote the new releases.

I agree with Tsao regarding in-stores. And yes, I had assumed these were in-store promos until I found that article yesterday. It was mail-order subscription only, never sent as a promo, as far as I'm aware.

In my opinion, in store items are a sort of promotional items. They are made to promote, no matter if they are sent to a radio, a TV or a store. They are clearly not commercial releases because they are not for sale. However according to vandeebgroup's info, these videos were available for sale via mail-order. It perfectly explains why no barcode, why no "promo only" is printed on the video, and why no seller on Earth is selling it as a promo.

I don't think it should be classified as a promo.I mean it is a promo... as in "its purpose is to promote a bunch of artists" but as an instore video i do not feel come across as a true promotional item custom made by a record company..just like items 3518 and 3575 (which are in fact listed here as promos, but i don't think of them as genuine promo items...Does what i say makes sense?????

Here's some info I found...
http://www.thefreelibrary.com/...
Sounds like it was a mail-order subscriber-based distribution, starting around June 1993. Then around Oct 1994 it started being bundled with "Huh" music magazine, still mail-order based. That would explain the lack of barcode, if it was not available in stores. Sounds like from the article that the subscriber they are talking about isn't meaning retail store or other person who would receive a promo, but instead an individual music consumer? --Zack

It makes sense but after checking the Internet the interesting thing is absolutely no seller or shop sells it as a promo. During this task I found a copy on eBay "Buy it now" for $5, no promo mentioned. Not even EIL.com states it as a promo when they rarely miss any detail to give the highest possible value and price. Maybe it's a promo but the lack of evidence is confusing everybody? This is the only place they refer to it as "PROMO NTSC VHS"
