Snippet in music refers to the use of a short phrase of a recording. This CD-R contains 1 minute length sampler of each song. This is the first snippet sampler on the site.

I think some record labels do this when it's well before the release date and they don't want the full album to leak to the web.

The snippet samplers are sent to journalists and media to help them write quick reviews without having to listen to the entire record. Why they do it like this is something I can't quite fathom, although it must prove the most effective way when you get the umpteenth record to review.
