White label, test press or misspressed?

another 'curiosity' I've been following. Possibly a white label, mispress or even a test press? the text around the label is same as commercial B side, I should have asked for an image of the A side, but as the seller replied, 'A side is white', which if it's without the text around the edge makes me think it could be a mispress (as this would be the label template before graphics). Still a unique item either way.

Thanks Pheel242. I forgot all about this! Btw Iâ??ve just picked up a copy of Faith with a gold star on the rear. John mentions heâ??s seen a Seventeen Seconds also with a star. My guess is these were some kind of promotion, like a â??nice priceâ?? type thing perhaps but itâ??s just a guess. Iâ??ll add some pictures soon.

ebiasi - my apologies, I missed your replies in April 2018!! I see the odd white label, and the Pornography with star. These are interesting - I hadn't seen either before. Is it possible a plain white label was applied over the one on it? As in, maybe the side B label was applied both properly to side B and improperly to side A, so they covered over it with a plain white label? I can't really say, but it is an oddity for sure.

Yeah sure. They are in a drop box folder. Link here https://www.dropbox.com/... If that has not worked I can send via email if people are happy that way. Also in that folder is the Pornography LP with gold star on back.

an update. I picked up a very cheap copy (recently on ebay, i'm sure some of you probably saw it). Anyways it has standard b-side label and a plain white label on the a-side. However, visible under the a-label is the rim text normally found on the b-side. I asked the seller if he remembers when and where he got it, he replied it was from the time (i.e 1984) and from a friend who was a fan and often had doubles in her collection but that was about it. Other than that everything is as standard to the UK press. So it's unlike the one on Discogs but still confused as to whether it's a misspress/fake/or what? Any way it wasn't expensive so no dramas either way I guess!

Strange one. Plus 'hiring' is missing from the text.

however...the face is from the A side (definitely rubbed out on the label in this example) but the text around the rim of the label is from the B side. So the label has been rubbed away and swapped over? cunning eh!

good detective work there thekremlin! think I might buy another copy of the commercial issue and make my own! Hmm wonder if there will be a Primary 'white label' on offer soon. £84 already....I reckon it'll go over £100-(sadly for the buyer)

Yeah, you can see the face on the right of the label! Really feint. Oh dear!

That's a lot of effort eh!? How you keeping John? btw did you get a msg from me (via this site) regarding a certain 1 sided 3 track sampler (1984)

to me it looks like the orig label has been rubbed off and the letters added so the letter are bold and neat and the label is rubbed
