Interesting! The description is clear and the picture seems to confirm it's two sleeves. Should we understand that most copies are one sleeve only except for maybe a bunch like this? Unless there was a trick on that auction, it's definitely now a new item. Anyone else knew about this kind?

No extra copy/sheet with mine, just a signed copy, there was a set of 12" that were shrink wrapped together CTM/ITD (I think) but never seen this as a shrinked wrapped

Maybe someone else can help. I'm 99'99% sure that i saw a copy like this in Popsike some time ago, my signed copy is a regular opened one.

Was it shrinkwrapped with another copy of the cover? I thought it was just the ordinary LP authographed.

If it was a separate signed cover, like a 12"x12" flat, that seems like it would be an included promo item rather than just a signed record. So it would make sense to me to include it as a different item as with the +poster and +sampler copies.

I would consider the HMV signed copies of the original "Disintegration" LP as a different item, like the webmaster said "I agree that it's a marketing strategy like hundreds before, the new thing here is that the extras can be found only on one shop". As far as i know the original package was the LP shrinkwrapped with another copy of the cover signed so... what do you think?

Only mispressings are not strictly stringent in its listing here to my appeal. but anyway a great job and a great site! g*

I agree, JC, the different formats and versions are major differences, and this is something that is a minor technicality to some collectors. It's a similar discussion to the different matrix numbers making a new item, I guess. I don't think I'd ever actively collect CDs based on matrix numbers, but I realize that some collectors here really enjoy that. And I'm happy to have this site take a broad view, and I can just focus on the things I do want. The more the merrier! But I do understand your point.

Please note we've been listing identical records with different stickers as new items from the very beginning. As said before, it helps if you give the freebies the same status. I agree that it's a marketing strategy like hundreds before, the new thing here is that the extras can be found only on one shop (thus the shop's name on the item), which seems to be confusing some of you. Vandeebgroup explained it very well.

The issue here for me was more whether one thumbnail was enough, and then add "another copy with a poster/an advert"etc...I realise you can't just buy the poster or the advert and therefore they are, according to the site, different items, but i think that is pushing it a bit.At least with multicoloured vinyls, gatefolds ect(POY being the obvious example)you get the feeling that each item is actually different...

Just wanted to weigh in on this issue. I strongly agree that if the extras are issued by the labels, they should be included as additional items. Of course yes, it's a marketing ploy, but look at how many different ways over the years the labels have released one Cure single in numerous different packages... 7" single, double 7" in numbered gatefold sleeve, 12" single, colored vinyl 12", etc etc. This is why collecting the Cure is so fun for me. It's all a big marketing ploy. But if it wasn't, it would be boring. For example, if you want to collect Fugazi, there's nothing to buy! You get each LP once, which is still in press, and you're done. (Also, the spinning Top Snake was probably a marketing ploy too!!!)

Thanks GCS1. We understand your preference. All we can add is, try giving the extras the status of a sticker, it may help. They are issued by the labels, not by the shops.

anyway up to you, webmaster. i agree with christophe. it would be fine enough to put the adverts, posters etc. in addition to the specific item. but anyway just an idea;-) g*

The free promotional poster, the A4 advert, etc., are OFFICIAL, courtesy of Rhino and Universal. They work like a sticker: make the item new. As explained here before, extras that don't coexist with others make the items different. If you ask me: do I like it? Personally, I wouldn't pay for another LP just for a free poster (you could call that ridiculous). But what these shops want is that you choose them to buy your FIRST copy, and far from ridiculous, these promotions make perfect sense. Ask those who bought their copies at Townsend or The Ideal Copy in the first place, I'm sure they're very very happy.

Just my two cents but I tend to agree, it definitely looks like a marketing ploy. Then again it's up to the individual to accept to be drawn into it and personally i am not.As for how it appears here on the site is up to our Webmaster obvioulsy.I would have thought one thumbnail with 3 or 4 "another copy with a poster/an advert" etc wold have sufficed.Cheers.JC

sorry but i think all those extra listings of different packages is a bit rediculous. those items are concerning the pressing not unique. i fear this only opens the gate for the marketing strategies of record shops. don't want to get into that. am i alone here? g*
